Community resources help extend VAVS services and program potential. Unlike other medical center services, VAVS relies almost entirely on donated support to carry out its purpose: to provide supplemental assistance to the VA and its patients. If you would like to support this program, all monetary & material donations should be submitted through the Volunteer Office Program Manager. Please contact us with questions.

6. Volunteer Fund: Program needs: Volunteer needs to support Veterans-Regularly Scheduled Volunteers provide 135,000 hours for VAMC vets. Donated funds are needed more than ever for awards program, meals, uniforms, badges, pins, etc. GPF 9934
7. Coffee Fund: Coffee for patient care areas in the main facility as well as the Southeast Health Care Clinic, the Northwest Health Care Clinic, the Globe Mobile Clinic, and the Show Low Health Care Clinic. GPF 9930
8. Escort Service Volunteer Shirts: Worn by all staff in Patient Escort, Volunteer high visibility shirt version is $16 each, two required per Volunteer. GPF 9934
9. Homeless Veterans: Under clothing, white tube type socks, new and almost new clothing, bus tickets/passes sleeping bags, back packs, tents. GPF 9914
10. Social Work (SW) Service: Gasoline gift cards, telephone cards, temporary subsistence needs, bus passes, SW Assistance Fund—rent, utilities, misc. assistance for admitted patient, motel stay passes etc. GPF 9914

 El Paso VA Health Care System - El Paso, TX

Donations:

Services and programs for patients and family members are enhanced entirely through donations received through VA Voluntary Service.  This includes programs for our homeless, indigent, and low-income veterans and their families. Your donations also support our awards and reccognition program for our 220 + volunteers who provide valuable time and service in support of our veterans and our health care system.
 

Your donations are processed through the Voluntary Service and used for the purposes as desired by the donor.  If you are interested in making a monetary or material donation, please ensure your donations are submitted through the Voluntary Office program manager.  If you are interested in making a donation and have any questions, please contact our Voluntary Services Office at (915) 564-7881.

• Personal Comfort Items - Only Travel size comfort items will be accepted.  This includes shampoo, comb/brush, toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotion, shampoo, shaving cream, etc...  Sharp objects such as razors should be donated seperately.

Monetary Donations

Monetary donations enhance VA Voluntary Service programs.  Following are some of the accounts to which donations may be made.

Donations may also be made to support various Recreation Therapy Service activities, SCI Unit activities, and support for the out-based clinics.

 West Texas VA Health Care System - Big Spring, TX

Donations / Needs List:

The West Texas VA Health Care System operates a 40-bed nursing home care unit as well as maintaining an average daily census of approximately 20 inpatients. An intensive outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Program maintains approximately 10 lodgers. All in and outpatients depend upon the Voluntary Program for amenities, calling cards, house shoes, canteen books, etc. Because of the remote area, calling cards are always needed. Additional needs include comfort items, canteen books, small tote bags, socks, tee shirts.
