In addition to the many non-tangible benefits you receive as a volunteer from helping others, AVAHCS also provides some specific volunteer rewards. If you volunteer for four hours in a day you will receive a complimentary meal. All volunteers receive a parking sticker. Parking is free. Throughout the year VA staff make a point of recognizing our volunteer's efforts, but annually volunteers are honored for their hours of service at an awards ceremony and banquet. Phoenix VA Health Care System - Phoenix, AZ
Volunteer Benefits
Volunteers that work four (4) hours or more each day receive a complimentary meal from the Veterans Canteen Service located in the main medical center building. A parking lot located just north of Bldg. #3 is dedicated to our Volunteers only, but volunteer vehicles must display an issued parking sticker. VA Voluntary Staff annually honor their volunteers with an awards ceremony and banquet to recognize their hours of service to America’s veterans. Volunteer Benefits
Volunteers serve our veterans for a variety of reasons such as wanting to give back for our veterans sacrifices, staying active in their community, enjoyment of communication, and much more. Volunteers who work 4 hours or more a day are provided a meal in our great Veterans Canteen Service.
Additionally, every year volunteers receive TB testing, flu shot, and also have a great time at the Volunteer Awards Banquet during National Volunteer Recognition Week.
To top off the list of benefits are free parking, free volunteer apparel and an identification badge.

Volunteer Benefits:
All volunteers that work four or more hours during weekdays may have a meal ticket to obtain a free lunch ($5.00 maximum). Free parking, identification badges, and jackets or vests are provided. Tuberculin testing, and flu vaccinations are provided annually. Volunteers are honored with awards ceremonies and special activities. Respect and admiration abound from serving those who served.

West Texas VA Health Care System - Big Spring, TX
Volunteer Rewards/Benefits:
The definition of volunteer, in VA terminology, is “without compensation employee.” Volunteers are eligible for annual flu vaccinations and are treated for “on–the-job” injuries while volunteering at the medical center. Volunteers that provide four or more hours of service to the VA are entitled to a meal in the Veteran’s Canteen Service. Volunteer recognition ceremony is held annually to honor volunteers with pins and certificates. The greatest gift of all is the giving of yourself.
